About Us
While extreme durability is one of the main attributes associated with mesquite, it is the unparalleled beauty of the grain and inclusions, which catch one’s eye, and often, one’s heart.

16 years in Mesquite work
Rodolfo (Rudy) Saldivar, mesquite furniture artisan, was born in Nogales, Sonora Mexico and has resided in Tucson for the last 50 years. He has been inextricably linked with mesquite most of his life. From riding the fence line with his father, checking the mesquite posts that often last a century, to his restaurant, where for 15 years, the exclusive wood used for grilling was mesquite because of its exceptional favor infusion.
Rudy’s two, three-man shops, produce what has been characterized by many, as the best mesquite furniture made today. His exclusive use of this medium for the past 16 years has allowed him to hone his skills and decipher the nuances belonging to mesquite, the noblest of desert trees. Rudy “harvests” his logs, which can reach 60″ in diameter by 50′ in height, from the bottom of three large reservoirs in Sonora, Mexico. His furniture is not only artistic but is engineered to achieve the highest level of structural integrity. Mortise and tenon joinery is utilized throughout the manufacturing process to achieve the highest level of quality. Additionally, every board is kiln dried to maintain this same standard of excellence.
Rudy’s passion has intensified into an obsession with the blending of beauty with craftsmanship. He has developed a unique style by drawing from such masters as Stickley, Green and Green, and Frank Lloyd Wright. These influences are subtly detectable by implication. Custom pieces make up the majority of his work. He has a few standard lines in stock at all times, which have changed little over the years, a tribute to their classic design.
